1) <한겨례21>: Game about Femicide

    http://stop-femicide.hani.co.kr/survive

It is a simple choose-your-own-adventure game. It has a similar theme to our team, focusing on domestic violence, and it's easily playable on the website.

Limitations: Simple graphics and storyline can detract from the player's interest in the game. The format of going back to the beginning after a failure can make it difficult for the user to continue playing.

2) Detroit: Become Human

It is an interactive game in the dystopian science fiction genre that explores the ethics of AI/Android. With high-quality graphics and a solid storyline, this game has received high praise from many users. The intriguing storyline captivates users, immersing them in the situation and making them think from both human and android perspectives. Through the process of evoking empathy, the game provides both entertainment and lessons on AI/robot ethics without causing discomfort. It is a work that effectively encourages users to think about AI/robot ethics. The user can protect or move their character by choosing the desired option or performing specific motions requested on the screen.

3) Doki Doki Literature Club!

The game starts off as a typical dating simulation but ends as a horror game. In the early stages, the player can choose their options freely, but a plot twist in the middle of the game takes away their freedom of choice. The UI with glitch effects, forced shutdowns, file deletions, etc. effectively creates a horror atmosphere. The game shocks users by letting them play an unexpected story.

4) Black Mirror: Bandersnatch

     Netflix

It is an interactive movie where the user can choose their options and get different endings based on their choices. Though it has a simple option-only two choices, it is still significant because it was one of the early attempts at interactive movies. Users can enjoy the movie more through this interactive format. However, the limited options and presentation style reduce the entertainment value of the game.

5) Solutions

    - Making checkpoint/save point: Users can start where they left.

    - Make it possible for users to follow the story within limited freedom of

usability so that they can earn information through the game while enjoying

       it.

    - Put a plot twist so that users can gain interest and can focus on the story.

Q. I want to create a game about domestic violence!

A. Domestic violence is a very sensitive topic, so it should be considered when designing a game. Before creating a game, it is important to research domestic violence and have a proper understanding of it.

To create a game about domestic violence, the following elements can be considered:

  1. Storyline: The game's story can revolve around a protagonist's experience facing domestic violence. The goal of the game can be for the protagonist to escape domestic violence.

  2. Characters: Other characters who interact with the protagonist and are involved in domestic violence can also be included in the game. These characters can either help or hinder the protagonist.

  3. Situations: Various situations should be included in the game as domestic violence can involve both physical and verbal abuse.

  4. Educational elements: If the game contains educational elements about domestic violence, it can become more meaningful. For example, the game can show warning signs of domestic violence or emphasize that domestic violence is a crime.

  5. Appropriate handling: Domestic violence should be discussed appropriately in the game. This can also affect the game's evaluation and marketing strategies.
