About
Me
I am a South Korean and am an undergraduate of Yonsei University. My major is IID and CDM from Underwood International College. Currently, I am working as a RA (Residential Assistant) in Yonsei Songdo Dormitory. When I was 8 years old, I lived in Turkey for two years, then lived Peru for a year, lastly lived in Italy for four years. Living in a different culture was challenging but it gave me more opportunities to see the world from a wider perspective. I always felt thankful about the fact that I live in many diverse countries and through that, I was able to build a variety of experiences.
During high school, I studied the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Studying IB was very challenging. At the beginning of IB, I felt insecure about my English, and that really affected my self-esteem. But simultaneously, I did not want to avoid my fear. I confronted them and studied really hard. Along with that, I participated in many school music festivals, concerts, performance to show my passion for music. As a result, I receive a lot of certificate from school and that helped me to apply to Yonsei University. All these experiences have made what I am today. My past has taught me how to understand people from different culture, and I gained creativity by participating in music activities.
After working in M2(Mnet Digital Studio) I started to have a big interest in the KPOP industry. I watch all the music shows every week (e.g. MCOUNTDOWN, Inkikayo etc.), and I not only focus on big bands like BTS or BLACKPINK, but also try to learn about small, not famous bands as well. I felt that in order to understand well about KPOP industry, I needed to become a fan of the KPOP band. So I started to expand my fan experience. I started buying music albums, collecting photo cards, streaming, and I even went to a pre-recording performance in 쇼!음악중심.
The reason why I am obsessed with the KPOP industry is that I love the energy that the KPOP is giving to the listeners. And I feel like KPOP is at the very center of pop culture, so they are very sensitive to trends. Since I love tracking all the trends, I felt that the KPOP industry is the right fit for me. I also like video production. The video editing process is very stressful but whenever I see the result, it gives me a great sense of accomplishment and the satisfaction is bigger than in other design works. Lastly, I love people and socializing. During the exchange student program in Canada, I realized that I love small-talking and I enjoy meeting new people and getting to know them. Having friends in Korea is fun but I want to learn how people live in other countries. So I hope to live in diverse countries after graduation.
Although I’m in my senior year, I still do not know what to do in my future. I have so many things that I want to do and I want to achieve a lot of thing, so it is very hard to decide on one specific career path. I have not decided yet but I want to work either in KPOP industry or in Media. My long-term dream is to live in Canada. The life at UBC was amazing and still miss that quiet, peaceful, chilling atmoshere in Canada. So in the future, once I get old enough, I hope to live and work in Canada. Since this is my last year, I want to learn deeply about UI/UX design and I want to collaborate with great time members and want to get the best result.
